Kevin's birthday.  Kevin Smith show review.  Arizona SB1070.  Pro Sports teams on the move.  The Summer Movie tagline game.  "In Related News . . ."  The Untamed Heart/Return to Me Bad Acting Game.  Babes of Yesteryear.  The Haiku Movie Review winner announced.  Mexican Word of the Day.  Musical selections from Bands native to Arizona.  4 hosts.  4 differing opinions.  In spanish, four is "Cuatro."

With 4 hosts instead of the usual 2, several things have now become clear:

* The name of the show may undergo an informal change.  While it is fiscally unreasonable that it be changed on the website and on iTunes, ZAP in our hearts doesn't just stand for "Zen and Peace," it also stands for "Zen and Pals."

*  Kevin, Ray and Tom are all funny dudes.

*  The show is greatly improved when it has more voices.  The old adage has been proven true:  "The More, the Merrier!"

Right off the bat, I have to apologize for some audio issues with the show.  I (Zen) recently had a fatal hard drive crash and I lost everything.  Back up your data, people.  Learn from my mistakes.  Anyway, I had to reinstall and start from scratch and when we recorded the episode I apparently had my microphone improperly set up.  My audio track, and mine alone, is "cooked."  I did the best I could to clean up the quality, but it is still pretty rough in spots.

It is worth listening to, however.  If you want to introduce friends to our little show, this is a good episode to share with them.  Everyone was drinking and having a good time and the laughs were rolling from the very start.  I have to thank Tom and Ray, who sacrificed their time to be part of the recording.  I hope they return often in the future.

Segments we revisit in this episode include:

  • In Related News
  • Babes of Yesteryear (B.O.Y.)
  1. Zen's pick:  Diane Franklin
  2. Kevin's pick:  Kelly Le Brock
  3. Ray's pick:  Jaqueline Bisset
  • Haiku Movie Review

          The winning Haiku is "Fargo"

Frozen, pent-up rage

Partner's in the woodchipper

Oh yeah, you betcha!

Congratulations to Kim K. for garnering enough votes to win our contest!

  • Mexican Word of the Day

  - Bishop

  - Budweiser

In between the laughs, we strayed into a serious topic.  Arizona State Bill #1070 is hotly debated here in our home state, and we just couldn't avoid talking about it.  In true Zen and Peace fashion, however, we only joke around and say rude and offensive things.  Do not expect to hear anything political or topical on the subject.  Just bad Mexican jokes.  Sorry.

All music played during this episode are songs from bands in Arizona.  If you listen to the show and aren't from The Grand Canyon State, I hope this will give you a good representation of our local music scene.

Intro Song:

Real To ReelRoger Clyne & The Peacemakers

"Mekong" (mp3) from "Real To Reel"

(EmmaJava Recordings)

More On This Album

The second song and the Outro song are by

Greyhound Soul

"Marina" at the first break, closing is "Laying Down Lost"

The third song played is "Meant to Be" by Flagstaff band

  Whiskey Rodeo

The fourth song played is "Overcast" by Tucson band and show favorite

  The Clam Tostada

Picks for this episode:

Kevin picks:  The Foreign film "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"

Tom picks:  WLW Cincinnati's Mike McConnell

Ray picks:  The Book "Geek Love" by Katherine Dunn

Zen picks:  Stupid for Movies movie review website, produced by Mike Rotman.

If you want to know what Mike Rotman tweeted that set Zen off, you should follow him on Twitter also.  Mike is a producer on Kevin Pollak's Chat Show as well as a producer of his own Web content, so he usually has something interesting to say on Twitter.  twitter.com/mikerotman
